The Law Follows Life: Know Your Rights So You Can Exercise Them
The workshop “The Law Follows Life” starts from an important but often overlooked fact: ignorance of the law is no excuse—Ignorantia nocit in Latin, which literally means “ignorance harms.” This principle dates back to Roman law, yet no one teaches us how to truly understand and use our rights in real life. The goal of the workshop is to bring the law closer to people as a tool for protecting dignity, freedom, and equal opportunities, rather than presenting it as an abstract and inaccessible field.

Through concrete examples from everyday life (employment relations, the digital space, privacy, freedom of expression, criminal offenses, and misdemeanors), participants will discuss why it is important to know what our rights are, what we can do when they are violated, and why passivity and lack of knowledge most often benefit the stronger party.

The second part of the workshop focuses on the relationship between human rights and modern technologies. We will examine how the internet, social networks, artificial intelligence, and digital surveillance affect our rights, and why the law must constantly evolve and adapt to new challenges in order to keep people protected in the digital age.
