The Art of the Matrix: From the Diamond Sutra to the Digital Infinite
This workshop offers a critical examination of printmaking's evolution—from its Eastern origins and the historic Crnojević press in Cetinje to its relevance in the age of the AI revolution. In an era of algorithmic perfection and digital ubiquity, we return to the fundamental act of creation: carving a unique, physical matrix that bears a distinct imprint.
Participants will engage in the meditative and precise process of relief printing, translating abstract concepts of characters and symbols into tangible forms.
Note: The workshop involves the use of specialized carving tools. Comprehensive safety instructions and technical guidance will be provided.
Lecturer: Kristina Lazarević, Mensa Montenegro
Kristina (b. 1993) is a Montenegrin visual artist. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Trebinje (Printmaking Department), she continued her academic research at Tokyo University of the Arts learning Mokuhanga (woodblock printmaking), Washi papermaking, Japanese style painting - Nihonga and Shodo. Her workshops bridge Montenegrin and Japanese traditions through hands-on mastery of ink and paper. Join her to explore the technical discipline behind these ancient crafts.
