How Mensa Germany brings young minds together across Europe – The European Mensa Juniors Camp(EMJC)
What happens when teenagers from across Europe spend ten days together with people who think like they do?

The European Mensa Juniors Camp (EMJC) brings together young people aged 12 to 17 for an international experience filled with inspiring projects, exciting excursions, new cultures, and lifelong friendships. Building on more than 25 years of Mensa Germany's experience in organising youth camps, the EMJC has been connecting young Mensans across Europe since 2022. This year's camp will take place on France's beautiful Atlantic coast in Talmont St Hilaire from October 23rd to November 1st.

This presentation introduces the EMJC, what makes it such a unique experience for its participants, and why it has become one of the highlights of the European Mensa calendar. It is also an invitation to national Mensas to become part of this growing community—by encouraging participants, supporting volunteers, or even hosting a future camp.

Beyond the EMJC, the session will also provide a brief overview of Mensa Germany's wider Gifted Youth programme, showcasing the different camp formats that have inspired the creation of the EMJC.

Lecturer: Mel Jäger, Mensa Germany

Mel Jäger has been a member of the Board of Mensa Germany for more than five years and oversees Mensa Germany's event portfolio, including Gifted Youth. In this role, Mel supports Mensa Germany's youth activities, works with organisers and volunteers across the country, and helps wherever needed to ensure that projects and camps can thrive.

Mel also serves as Director of Administration for Mensa International and is presenting this session on behalf of EMJC organiser Paul Janßen, a member of the Mensa International Gifted Youth Committee. Together, they are committed to strengthening international cooperation and creating opportunities for young Mensans to connect across borders.
